Yoga At Work Can Help You Feel Better, Work Better
It's no secret that work stress can cause serious health problems.
Experts say Yoga at your desk can help you feel and even work better.
Busy NBC employee Yen Nguyen takes a Yoga class at her desk.
Yoga instructor Amy Caldwell teaches how to stretch away pain at work.
"My back kind of hurts from sitting on this chair all day long and my wrist from this computer," says Nguyen.
Her first pose stretches the hips and back.
"Cross your right leg over your left one, and just go ahead and forward fold. (Like this?) Yeah, that's great and just see if you can let your arms down this way, relax your head," says the instructor.
Or try the back twister.
"Just cross a leg, sit up very tall and twist in the opposite direction."
"Imagine you're trying to pull your wrist apart but don't. And take your arms overhead like this -- ok."
Too much? This one will work just as well.
"Bring your head back to the center and slowly rotates your wrist."
Five times of each pose and yen has noticed another benefit.
"It kind of relieves my stress from this morning and physically I feel better."
"The physical motion is like wringing out a dirty sponge, so especially with twisting, you're really kind of twisting all of your abdominal organs and wringing out your organs of toxins that get stored there."
The result?
"Hear this, I'm ready to get back to work-- haha."
