Bangalore: Persons with Parkinson's disease were witness to a unique mode of therapy on Friday that could give them some relief from their problems.
About 60 people, most of them suffering from Parkinson's Disease and a few caregivers participated in a lecture demonstration on benefits of Yoga in Parkinson's.
Maria Baretto from the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorder Society, Mumbai, and Aarti Mehta from the Iyengar Society of Yoga, Mumbai, conducted the demonstration.
Through pictures of patients, Dr. Baretto and Ms. Mehta showed how Yoga had helped many patients improve their quality of life.
Ms. Mehta said some who had stiff neck muscles and restricted movement had found improvement after they did certain exercises.
She said "precision, timing, sequencing, step-by-step programming were important aspects of the study..”
